Lesson Fees and What's Included

Below is a clear breakdown of what's included when we work together!

First Session

For new students, the first session is free. This meeting is used to:

Conduct an initial assessment (reading or SEL needs)
Learn how your child responds best (learning style, attention, motivation, communication)
Review goals for tutoring
Determine whether our sessions are the right fit for your child and family

After the assessment, we'll confirm goals and recommend a package schedule (weekly or twice weekly)

What Lesson Fees Include

All tutoring is 1:1, online, and individualized. The 60-minute session covers more than just the live Zoom instruction. It includes both:

The lesson time (our Zoom session), and
Preparation time outside of the session (student-specific planning and resources created ahead of the lesson)

Because every learner has a unique profile (e.g., dyslexia, autism, ADHD, and other learning disabilities), preparation is required to ensure each session is targeted, sequential, and appropriate. This preparation may include:

reviewing your child's current goals and progress
selecting and adapting activities for their needs and learning style
creating the individualized lesson plan and session activities
preparing the specific materials and supports used during the lesson
updating resources and targets as needed for consistency and skill-building

When appropriate for reading needs, I use Orton-Gillingham approach for structured reading support, including student-specific planning. Parents/Guardians receive the lesson resources, including the lesson plan and slide deck/materials, so you can clearly see what we are working on and how to support practice outside of the session if recommended for your child.

Billing Schedule And Refunds

Non-package payments are billed on the 27th of each month.
Refunds are not issued for completed lessons.
Packages are billed monthly before the start of the first session for that month.
Refunds for packages are not issued after the first week of the month.

Make-ups And Cancellations

Make-ups/rescheduling require at least 24 hours' notice.
Two missed lessons may be rescheduled per month.
Missed lessons without 24-hour notice are forfeited.

This helps me to keep a consistent schedule with all the students who have booked classes in advance.

Additional Meetings (Schools, Therapists, Handover Reports)

Additional coordination time is available when needed, such as:

meetings with schools
meetings with therapists/other professionals
handover meetings (reports and updates)

Tools Used To Support Online Learning

All online tutoring relies on structured, interactive resources to keep sessions clear, engaging, and accessible for learners with dyslexia and/or autism (and other learning needs). I pay for these tools and they are included as part of your tutoring package materials, so families aren't expected to purchase anything separately.

In sessions, I may use:

Zoom for live 1:1 tutoring and instruction
Canva to create customized visual supports and lesson materials
Wordwall for interactive practice and skills reinforcement
IXL for targeted practice based on your child's current level and goals, and following current state standards
Tutorbird and related planning/support tools to help organize instruction and student-specific programming

Because my lessons are individualized, the specific tools used can vary from session to session based on what your child needs most right now (reading targets, decoding/fluency practice,, comprehension supports, or social-emotional learning goals). Even when the activity changes, the instruction and planning approach stays consistent: every session is build around your child's current profile, and the paid resources help me deliver that instruction effectively.

Reduced Rate For Eligible Students

I want to make education accessible to all students.

I offer a reduced-rate option for families who are experiencing financial hardship and genuinely need support to access tutoring. Parents who are in need of this help are welcome to speak with me privately. I will consider your situation and approve a reduced rate when appropriate.

What Is Required:

- Because progress depends on regular practice, families receiving this support are expected to be consistent with the agreed package schedule.
- Reduced-rate is only available with a monthly package commitment (weekly or twice weekly), and the tutoring should be attended regularly to maintain continuity.

Common FAQs

Why do tutoring sessions include more than "just the 60 minutes on Zoom"?

Because each lesson is individualized. I create student-specific plans and practice materials ahead of time so session time can stay focused on instruction and skill building not deciding on what to teach during the session.

Do you use Orton-Gillingham for reading?

Yes, when appropriate. For students who need structured reading support, I use an Orton Gillingham approach and create a specific lesson plan tailored to student's current skills and goals.

What do parents receive?

Parents/Guardians receive the lesson plan and slide deck resources for each session so you know what we covered and what to practice at home.

What students do you support?

I support children or young adults with reading and social-emotional learning needs, including students with dyslexia, autism, and other learning disabilities.

Can we switch from weekly to twice-weekly, or twice-weekly to weekly?

Yes. If goals require more intensive practice (for example, Orton-Gillingham intensive skill building), or your schedule changes, we can discuss adjusting your package.
